For the first time ever, Angela Hewittâs complete recordings of the Bach keyboard works on Hyperion are presented in one collection of 27 CDs in their original jackets. This covers nearly 25 years of Angelaâs Bach recordings on Hyperion, from 1994 to 2018. Angelaâs Bach Odyssey started in 1994 when Ted Perry, founder and then-director of Hyperion, first heard her in a recording of the Bach Inventions.
Angela recounts what happened next: âIâll take it!â said Ted Perry over the telephone. âBut you havenât heard it yet!â I exclaimed. âI donât need toâI know it will be goodâ, was his reply. âBut only if you agree to record the complete Bach.â This set features: New booklet notes from Angela herself, who is available for promotion and interviews. The booklet offers comprehensive indexing by BWV number for ease of search. Featured are both of Hewittâs recordings of the Goldberg Variations (1999 & 2015), The Well-Tempered Clavier (1997/8 & 2008) and the six Partitas (1996/7 & 2018) Also included are Bach arrangements, and the complete Bach Keyboard Concertos with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and Richard Tognetti.
